A Modern Patio Addition That Brings Back Backyard Privacy in Sienna
With a two-story home directly behind them, these homeowners had neighbors looking straight into their backyard and into the house. They wanted an addition that blocked the view and felt like a true extension of the home. We built it start to finish: a covered patio addition of about 400 square feet, anchored by a polished marble fireplace wall.

Privacy From the House Behind
Before this project there was no covered space out back, just an open yard with a two-story house looking down on it. The homeowners wanted a place to spend time outside without feeling watched, and they wanted it to look like it had always been part of their home.
What Took Extra Planning
Fitting the addition on the lot
Sienna's subdivision rules, setbacks and easements limit how far an addition can reach into the yard. We designed the patio to fit within those lines and worked with the HOA through approval.
Finding a stone that matches white brick
The biggest challenge of the build was the stone. The home is white brick, and we needed a stone white enough to blend with it. It took real searching to find the right match, and it's a big reason the addition looks original to the house.
The Details
- A fireplace wall finished in high-polish marble tile, the centerpiece of the space
- A granite seating area with built-ins and integrated lighting
- An outdoor kitchen wall with a built-in grill and stainless storage
- A stained wood ceiling with fans and recessed lighting
- Custom work throughout, built to match the home
As Good From Inside as It Is Outside
The finished patio is a true extension of the home. It looks as good through the back windows from inside the house as it does sitting out by the fireplace.
“We absolutely love everything about our new patio!”
